Our partnership was strong from the outset, they quickly understood our needs and designed a bespoke solution that would meet these. Having worked together over an extended period of time, we have worked together to make changes to the services on offer, aligned to the changing need at the club, which has always been a smooth process.

Throughout our partnership the ReBalance team have delivered consistently high-quality services to our members, working together with our coaching teams to ensure our playing squads are injury free. We have seen the impact year on year, with a reduced volume of injuries and improved speed of recovery as a result of detailed and bespoke plans.

We would highly recommend working in partnership with ReBalance to other businesses. This is based on their ability to work collaboratively and flexibly, to share our vision and values, and to deliver high quality and professional services consistently.

We are look forward to working in partnership with ReBalance for years to come!”

It has been a pleasure to work in partnership with Honiton RFC, designing a bespoke service for their senior members. A true highlight was supporting them in the high-pressured cup journey over a season to become RFU National Senior Vase Winners, the final of which was played at Twickenham Stadium.

Our Story and Decision to Rebrand

Abby Raddon

This blog captures the history of AR Sports Therapy and the transition into ReBalance Injury Clinic.

AR Sports Therapy was formed in 2015 by Abby Raddon. After finishing her master’s degree in Sports Therapy, Abby returned to Exeter, seeking her next steps in the industry but without any plans to start her own business.

An offer to work with Honiton Rugby Club was quickly followed by the availability of a treatment room at ‘The Barn’, an independent gym on the outskirts of Topsham, with a little deliberation and lots of learning in business start-up, AR Sports Therapy was born.

In the early days, Abby balanced lecturing at Exeter College with the business. For the next 3 years AR Sports Therapy continued to grow and Abby honed her therapy-based knowledge and skills.

In 2018 it was time for a refresh, to align the premises with the size of the business. The decision was made to move AR Sports Therapy to the current, and more professional location in Pinhoe, while also expanding the business to open the clinic in Honiton within B! Health and Fitness.

In early 2019, client numbers had developed significantly which had allowed Abby to leave her lecturing post and expand the AR Sports Therapy team. Chloe was the first to join, who Abby taught and mentored through her degree course and at Honiton Rugby Club, so Abby was confident that Chloe was going to make an excellent therapist.

As with many businesses the next challenge was Covid-19. The business had to adapt quickly and took the sports therapy process online to continue to be able to support those clients in need. Face to face appointments ebbed and flowed in line with government guidance with a robust testing protocol and PPE required, something we have only just moved away from.

Managing to get through the ups and downs of the pandemic and returning to relatively normal clinic routine was a success and relief, thanks to many loyal clients we work with today. Returning to normal, the AR Sports Therapy team grew further initially with Isla before she headed back to university, and Jake took her place and has impressed with his knowledge and experience.

In early 2022, after a lot of thought and reflection it was decided that the AR Sports Therapy brand did not reflect the growing team and clinic environment that we operate today. Therefore, the decision to rebrand was made and ReBalance Injury Clinic was launched.

ReBalance Injury Clinic has the same fantastic ethos, focused on supporting clients in achieving their goals, getting to the root cause of their pain to ensure they remain symptom free.

We love the new brand, and hope you do to! Under ReBalance we have lots of exciting plans and aspirations to expand our services and offering to clients.

We look forward to welcoming and supporting you as ReBalance!

Julie is one of our lovely clients that we have been seeing for both injury assessment and treatment, alongside sports massage for over a year now.

Julie originally came to us for an ongoing lower back issue, we completed the assessment, got to the root cause of the issue and planned her rehabilitation program to fit with her current training.

We discussed her goals and very quickly learnt that she is determined and ambitious. We found out that she had decided to challenge herself to the Ultra Endurance Challenge in aid of ARC Axminster & Cruse Bereavement Care. These charities are pretty close to Julie’s heart, both supporting those with mental health support, which is a problem too common in our society today.

Julie’s challenge took place whilst still under our old brand, AR Sports Therapy – Julies story is just too good not to share!

The challenge set was to complete 24 hours of non-stop exercise! Activities included personal training sessions, walking, rowing, cycling, jogging, spinning, HIIT, weight training, cycling, sea swimming, walking, paddle boarding, kayaking, and yoga.
Alongside B! Health and Fitness, we then aided her ongoing training and rehabilitation around the activities which were included in the event schedule, to ensure she had the strength and endurance to complete the challenge (which of course, we knew she would).

We had the pleasure of helping her through her training, treating her small niggles that arose, providing maintenance treatments to aid her recovery and best prepare her for her training, over the months of hard training leading up to the big event.

A few months before the big event, her training was building for a planned 15-hour preparation event and just a couple of days beforehand, Julie hobbled in with a calf injury. It was nothing too serious and we got her through the full 15 hours! Now it was time for a bit of recovery and to nip this injury in the bud!

The 24-hour challenge itself soon came around, and Julie was ready to go, We were all confident in Julie’s ability to make it through the event and get to 24 hours of exercise. We were on hand during the event to support any niggles that may have popped up. In all honesty, she didn’t really need us, her physical ability that she developed through the dedication she made to her training and preparation was second to none and she smashed the 24 hours with a smile! Single handily raising over £2400, above her target, for her chosen charities.

Very well done Julie! We are in awe of your achievement and we are so pleased to be able to help you achieve your goals!

Client Story: Jonno – Ironman Success and Regular Client.

Race bike stolen hours before the Ironman and he still smashed it!

“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ReBalance to anyone, be it for general maintenance or for preventative treatment whilst going through a tough training period.”

Jonno came to us to compliment his training and reduce some niggles he was experiencing whilst training for an Ironman in Maastricht, the Netherlands in 2017.

He got through his training with some pretty impressive planning and consistent training, complimented by regular maintenance treatments. The odd niggle flared up but we were able to quickly to assess these and get him right back on course. It was then show time, he started his journey to the race location, but unfortunately, not even two days before the big race, his bike was stolen. Absolutely devastated and wondering whether he was going to even get a chance to pass the start line of the race, and with the support of his partner Dee, he decided not to let this phase him, they got to the nearest bike shop the day before the Ironman and bought a new race bike, to be delivered that evening ready to ride the next morning without any training on it. A tough feat for anyone!

Jonno made it through the Ironman in great time, not letting the forced bike change last minute stop his determination to complete the 3.8km swim, 180 km cycle and 42 km run. What a fantastic and absolutely unbelievable achievement.

“When I first started coming to ReBalance Injury Clinic, I had plans to enter an Ironman event and thought it would be a good idea to invest in looking after my body better whilst enduring a 7-month training plan. They helped with regular sports massages following my longer training sessions and also identified any potential niggles and injuries and treated them accordingly. Since then, I have done other marathons and long and short distance events for which Abby and her team have given me the best treatment and advice on remaining injury free.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend ReBalance to anyone, be it for general maintenance or for preventative treatment whilst going through a tough training period.”

Since his Ironman, Jonno has continued regular maintenance treatments with us whilst competing in multiple races and events. Including… Cheddar Gorge Challenge, Two tunnels race, Severn Bridge and the original marathon in Athens.

More recently, he has suffered with knee osteoarthritis and a meniscus tear in his knee, stemming from his years of service in the Army. We now see Jonno on a regular basis to continue progression with his rehabilitation and to keep any pain and tightness down around the knee. Jonno regularly completes his conditioning training, track sessions and sea swims to compliment his training so that he can maintain his strength and continue to do what he loves.

It’s always a pleasure to see Jonno’s name in our diary, he is known by all our therapists and he has helped to vet a few of them. We hope to continue working with you and keeping you in your training gear for years to come!

Client Story: Katie – Achilles tendinopathy to Ultra marathons

Unable to run, to ultra-marathons and finishing 2nd!

“After treatment and hard work, I was able to run the Jurassic Coast 30km challenge and finished in third place! Since then I’ve gone on to run multiple 30km trail races, as well as a 50km ultramarathon in June – finishing second.”

“I came to ReBalance Injury Clinic in May 2020, when an Achilles tendon injury had effectively stopped me from running.  As a long-time distance runner, I was genuinely afraid that I might be facing the end – the pain was that intense.

Abby and I began our work together remotely (due to Covid), with a thorough assessment and an immediate plan to maintain activity while diagnosing the root of the problem.  This proactive approach to therapy enabled me to stay active and optimistic, which was hugely important to my mental health.

Over the past year, Abby has worked patiently and steadily to develop a plan to strengthen the things that need strengthening – surprisingly this has primarily been my feet!  At every turn, Abby paid attention to the ‘small things’ (a twinge here, a pull there, an ache that I was ready to accept), taking them seriously and reading these signs to help us tailor my therapy programme.”

“One year later, I am thrilled (and so grateful!) to report that I completed a 30km trail race, finishing in 3rd place overall!!! I have now completed multiple 30km trail races, as well as my first 50km ultramarathon!  I honestly could not have imagined this when we started and owe the achievements to Abby and her team.

I honestly could not have imagined this back in May 2020 and owe so much to Abby and her team.  The friend who initially referred me to ReBalance Injury Clinic said that Abby is “magic” – I couldn’t agree more.  But now I know that magic is underpinned by an incredible depth of knowledge about sports science, as well as a holistic approach that cares for both physical and mental health.

ReBalance Injury Clinic helped me to resume running after an Achilles tendon injury.  After 12 months of treatment and hard work, I was able to run the Jurassic Coast 30km challenge in 2021 – and finished in third place!  Since then I’ve gone on to run multiple 30km trail races, as well as a 50km ultramarathon in June 2022 (finishing second).”

We have loved working with Katie, seeing her improve from being in pain and limited with her activity to not only completing some very challenging races, but in unbelievable times is what we love about our job. Keep up the great work Katie!
